Weigh In Result & Meal Plans

Good afternoon.
I'm feeling incredibly tired again today, it was so warm last night we couldn't sleep so early hours of the morning opened one of the windows.
This morning I was woken, not by my alarm, but by a bloody big bee that had found its way in and was stuck behind the curtains. 'Operation Bee Rescue' was quite simple... open the window wider. :)

Aaaanyway, I gained half a pound this week. Not much eh, especially after our weekend away. hoorah. I can feel my body starting to crave healthiness now though, today my lunch mainly consisted of celery and tomatoes.

On top of that, I still cant quite work out if I have developed hayfever or I have some sort of chest infection. Off to see the Dr on Monday. Hopefully they can tell me whats wrong and how to make it better! :) So hoping for a super healthy and lovely feeling week ahead!

Back to some normality this week too, or my new version of normality. Quite simply I now work 4 days a week, Tuesday-Friday. I'll share my plans for my extra 'free' tine soon!! :)

Weigh In Result & Meal Plans

Morning campers.
I'm back with my weekly dose of meal planning. I'm feeling incredibly groggy today. Wheezy and chesty, bunged up and watery eyes. I've been on and off like this for about 4 weeks now. I've never had hayfever before but all fingers seem to be pointing in that direction. I was feeling fab a couple of days ago too.
I have some antihistamines that are still in date (from a reaction to an insect bite last summer) so I think I may take a couple today and see if that helps at all.

Anyway, onto my usual update. I gained last night. it was expected as I didnt stick to plan at all. I can honestly say I dont know whats wrong with me at the moment. Its so simple, and I know unless I stick to healthy eating and exercising I'm not going to lose weight, but my motivation and dedication is seriously lacking at the moment. I'm going to keep on meal planning and driving forwards though as something will click soon I am sure and it will all fall back into place again.

We have an odd/busy couple of weeks coming up and also my birthday at the end of the month. Plus there are a few changes happening that I shall go into in more depth on here soon. We have been having some lovely conversations at home planning and discussing changes and our hopes and dreams etc. And I am excited (and a little scared) about the next few months or so. :D

Bank holiday weekend and we are going to see Kings of Leon Monday night in Coventry. We should both have the Tuesday off too (waiting for D to confirm he has today!) so we booked a hotel for the night, don't have to travel home and battle traffic out of the arena, and we can have a mini break and use the hotel facilities on the Tuesday.
Hoping I feel better for then!!

Have good weekends all of you, whatever your doing! :) x

Weigh In & Meal Plans

A day late with this post. Today really truely was 'one of those days' (I am sure that is turning into my favourite saying recently!)
First I took a tumble at work while carrying some parcels and took the impact full on my right knee. on a concrete floor. ouch. Its not too bad,  it has a nice lump and bruise and my foot is bruised and grazed, but I can bend it, and it seems to be taking my weight ok walking up stairs this morning (couldnt manage that yesterday)
Then the car broke down. to be exact the exhaust fell off!! whaaaat! I've only had the thing 5 months, and we only noticed a rattling noise 2 days ago and then sodding thing falls off. Its in the garage at the moment waiting to be looked at on Monday. I'm not best pleased as you can imagine. Hopefully it'll be sorted soon, going form 2 cars to 1 to none is a bit of an adjustment!
Not to mention work is super busy. So when I finally got home last night we crashed on the sofa, I put my knee up and we got take out delivered. Not diet friendly, but it was so good after a crappy day.

Anyway, Thursday night. I lost 1.5lbs. hoorah. and apart from my little (understandable) blip last night, I'm hoping for another good loss next week.

Saturday - EE
B: Fruit & yogurt, Toast
L: Veggy tortilla

D: Tomato & basil baked Gnocchi.

Friday - EE - Gym in morning

D: Homemade fish & chips

Lunches are all about the leftovers this week. Makes it so much easier just cooking a little extra the night before, popping it in some tupperwear in the fridge and grabbing it the next morning! I am really enjoying going veggy during the week too, and it saves money which is of course a good thing :)
The exercise will all be knee dependant, I'll be sure to take it easy and not damage it any more.

Happy Saturday.xx

Weigh In Result & Meal Plans

Soooo. It was a bad week for me. and when I am having a bad week i lose all interest in food. Unfortunatly this does not lead me to ealing little and often, but rather eating junk and snacks because I quite frankly just cannot be bothered.
I gained 2.5lbs
I'm not upset about it though as I was fully expecting it. No excuses, it was entirely my own fault because I didnt have the energy or will power to turn down the biscuits.

It was a good meeting last night however, and i left feeling much more positive and happy with my plans for this week. And a lot of us pledged a 3lb weight loss aim for the week ahead. And because it was such a good group type pledge I really want to get it.

I'm keeping things simpler this week. I can have a tendancy to over think things, and to get myself back to eating heathier I think the simpler the better. :)

Saturday - EE
B - Cereal & fruit
L - Tuna salad roll & spanish tortilla
D - 'KFC' style chicken & chips (and Eurovision!)

Have good weekends everyone xx

2.5lbs off!! ohh yeah you heard me.

On a side note, I cannot say 'ohh yeah' now without this going through my head.
God I love that movie! haha

Anyway, I'm not quite sure how I lost 2.5lbs. in my opinion my week as more 'treat filled' than last week, and I did minimal exercise.
I am getting my backside back to the gym/body balance etc this week, and I am going to make a conscious effort to drink more water especially when I am working out.

Really hoping I can get 2lbs off next week, as that'll hit my 1stone loss. which would just be awesome!

Weigh In Result & Meal Plans

Good morning. The sun is shining, the birdies are singing, its Friday, and someone is playing 80s hair rock upstairs in the office. Happy days.

Last night was not such a happy night. I gained half a pound. Gained!! Gutted is an understatement. ok we ate out at the weekend, but I had sorbet at the cinema (much better than nachos, or jelly sweets) and Sunday roast beef at the pub, I even gave Darren my sausage wrapped in bacon from that Sunday roast! and ok, I've not been gym as much, but I've been on the bike instead. Something had obviously gone wrong though so this week I have been given the 'SAS' log (basically I log everything I eat and drink, if it was planned or not, how you feel during the day, everything!) and I started the 'weigh in week' by getting by butt out of bed and going to the gym. (and we found out today they are going to start opening at 6.30 on Mondays and Thursdays too! yay)

With bike rides, gym visits, body balance class, digging the garden and food optimising all week, If I dont get a bloody good loss next week there may be tears... or a tantrum. probably a tantrum.

2 April 2011

My weekend so far...

So as I mentioned yesterday, I attempted to ride a bike yesterday for the first time in 17years!
Don't I look just so stylish! haha. The sun was in my eyes too, hence the closed eyes! A couple of things I learnt yesterday... much more sensible to have my hair tied back, it was constantly blowing in my face. and it might be chilly out, but once you start riding that bike you get very warm, very quickly. Layers are good.

The houses in the background behind Darren are where we live, so its litterally at the end of the road, and another street and we are out into the fields.
Anyway, I didnt hurt too much (or so I thought) when I woke, so after the groceries were delivered, and the household chores done I asked Darren if he's like to go on another bike ride, but a proper one this time, not just up and down the same (and relatively level) field/path.

We got ready and got the bikes ready and out the front of the house. This is when I discovered actually, I do hurt. Ouch!! that bike was not comfortable to get back on and my legs did not want to pedal (Even Darren was hurting as its been so long since he'd been on a bike ride!) But we went out to the same field and persevered.
In the first photo of me you can just about make out a viaduct in the background. (the 3rd photo above is zoomed in on the viaduct!) We cicled through the fields (ouch, some parts were bumpy and I half fell off once, I may have bruises!) and down to the viaduct.

We stopped for a moment, trying to see where the new bypass is going to be built (we know one is being built the other side of the viaduct) and I asked Darren if it was still used by trains. To which he replied no. Less than 30seconds later a train trundled over our heads. Looks like it IS still used :)
After that we cycled through the new estate and back home. 1.8miles we mapped it as. So not a long ride, but long for my first proper bike ride I think!!

This afternoon, while Darren was out playing football I decided to relax, have a bit of a pamper and a lovely lunch.

A quick shower with some Soap & Glory goodies (Breakfast scrub, and scub your nose in it) then to bed with a tomato & herb mugshot, cup of tea, juice and huuuge fruit salad (strawberries, pinapple and kiwis. yummy!) an episode of The only way is Essex (which I had not seen until yesterday, words escape me!) and i'm feeling much more rejuvinated and relaxed.

Hope you all have lovely weekends. Tomorrow will be spent with our Mums at the cinema and out for food we think. :)

Weigh In & Meal Plans

Good afternoon. Well, last night when weighing in I stayed the same... again! but again, on the bright side I did not gain!
I have convinced Darren that he should bribe me into tracking and being 100% commited. and hes agreed that if I completely stick to it this week and get a good loss (2lbs or more) he will agree to one, 30minute foot or back rub! I like this idea, get skinny and get massaged!! whoop! haha.

I have also had this afternoon off with Darren, as today we have been together for 6 years! any excuse for some time off! :) We have just got back from a little bike ride. I haven't even attempted to ride a bike for 17 years, and have had a bike in the shed for almost 4 years gathering cobwebs. but I did it. I'll have a proper post about that coming soon.

Here are this weeks meal plans..

Saturday - Extra Easy
Breakfast/Lunch: 'Full English' brunch
Dinner: Those Burgers & chips (One of Hubbys favourite meals now it seems!)

Sunday - Extra Easy - out on bike in afternoon!
B: Fruit salad
L/D: Mothers day lunch out... I am going to go for something like a chicken salad, or gamon steak. No creamy sauces etc.

Monday - Extra Easy - Gym in morning
B: Weetabix & fruit
L: BNS soup & egg salad
D: Prawn & pepper kebabs with rice & thai sweet chilli sauce.

Tuesday - Green - gym or class in evening
B: Egg & beans on toast
L: leftover rice & kebabs
D: Creamy mushroom & pepper risotto

Wednesday - Extra Easy - Gym in morning, class in evening
B: Weetabix/granola & fruit
L: BNS soup & chicken or egg salad
D: Chilli con carne & rice

Thursday - Green - SW in evening
B: Egg, beans, mushrooms on toast
L: Leftover risotto
D: Lazy dinner a'la Darren - Quorn, Jacket pot, cheese & sweetcorn

Friday - Extra Easy - Gym in morning
B: Weetabix/granola & fruit
L: leftover chilli & rice
D: 'diet coke' chicken!

I've got some of my favourite fruit coming in the groceries this week, strawberries, pinapple and passionfruit. and I aso ordered double the amount of frozen raspberries we normally get. so lots of fruit for snacking/desserts, and lots of exercise planned.

Fingers crossed for a good week this time. Happy weekend everyone. xx

29 March 2011

So you remember how yesterday I said that the clocks changing was fine because it was still light in the mornings.
It seems my mind was playing tricks on me and it was lies!
Because today when my alarm went off it was decidedly dark in our bedroom. No glints of sunlight through the curtains to entice me out of bed. Just dull and dark, (alright, I'll concede it was because it was cloudy and overcast, minus the clouds it would have been brighter) and it took more than double the effort it did yesterday to get myself out of bed, dressed and to the gym for it opening.

But up and dressed I got, and made it to the gym for it opening. I didn't overly enjoy this mornings workout (Darren is on early starts this week which means he cant come in the mornings. Even though we dont work out together when we are there, I still like his company on the car ride there and home and the odd smile at each other across the gym) I changed it up a little today, and instead of doing Treadmill/Bike. I did Treadmill/XTrainer. Boy did that sucker nearly kill me! but its good. I feel good for changing things around, and I used to l.o.v.e the Xtrainer, so its about time I rediscovered my love for it.

Tonight, straight after work I am going to a Body Balance class. We normally go on a Wednesday, but its later so means I am not home until 9ish and its so late to be eating dinner (I'm not home in time to eat and let it settle before going to the class) So today I have my kit with me so I can get changed at work and go straight there. Hopefully I'll make it in time and it will be a nice class.

When I got home last night Darren asked if I would like to see what he had done... uh-oh, what do you mean?
What he meant was that he had got home from work and spent the afternoon sorting out our spare room! Wow! ok its still got a lot of stuff in it that needs going through. and it has our old sofa upturned on its side awaiting being sold. but even so. There is space for a desk!! a desk!

ooh happy days.

and this is the desk we have chosen.
I cant wait to get it and start painting/creating again! :)
Happy Tuesday! xx

28 March 2011

Goooood Morning Campers

Hope everyone is feeling fine this sunny Monday morning.

Yesterday was the first time in my life I think that I was NOT looking forward to the clocks changing. I love the lighter evenings, there will be absolutely no need for me to have the lights on my car on the drive home from work. it just automatically feels like summer.
This year however, I was just thinking about how it'll be dark again in the mornings when I want to get up and go gym... I was concerned it might effect my exercise pattern!! WTF? Whats happened to me?

As it happens, it didn't effect it much at all. Its still light enough to not feel like you are getting up in the middle of the night, so hoorah. Summer time is here. :)

I am still very much struggling with getting myself in this new routine fully. Mondays at the gym are a bit of a rush, it opens at 7am (not 6.30 as it does Weds and Fri) but I still want time to shower and wash my hair. (I shower every day of course, but wash my hair just every other day! I used the glad hair day shampoo and conditioner today by the way, my hair smells divine!)
So I am still very much on a learning curve, and my gym workouts need tweaking. I only managed a mile power walking on the treadmill today before I had to scoot off into the shower. However, a mile power walk is still better than staying in bed doing nothing!

Saturdays are turning into a bit of a non entity for me too. with Darren working & out at football I tend to run round the house cleaning and generally doing the chores, and then nothing. And seeing as weekdays tend to be so busy, going from 60-0mph is really throwing me off track. I need to find something more constructive to do with my weekends, while still giving myself some time out to relax, or we'll just have another case of burnout to deal with!

It'll all fall into place soon I am sure. its the same as any new hobby/project etc. its takes a while for it to become second nature.
What do they say? for the average person it takes 3 weeks to form a new good habit? (apparently)
One thing at a time, and those good little habits soon are second nature and help make things easier and more enjoyable.

I'm happy that I made myself get up this morning and go for a work out. no matter how small it was. A positive start to the day, a positive start to the week. :)

Happy Monday everyone xx

Weigh In Result & Meal Plans

I lost 1lb!! whaaaaaatt? after the week I had!?! All I can imagine is that actually my eating was not as bad as I had actually imagined, and the exercise is finally staring to work its magic! (I have been complimented this week on how healthy I am looking, and I am apparently looking 'leaner'!)

Now I do not think the in depth food plans I have been doing on here have been helping me that much, a little too restrictive and OTT having every single thing planned and to be honest were a bit of a bore to type out. So I am reverting back to a simpler strategy...

Saturday - Extra Easy
Breakfast: Egg & beans on toast
Lunch: ? Not yet sure
Dinner: 'KFC' chicken & chips with salad.

Sunday - Extra Easy
B&L: cooked full English brunch
D: Beef casserole in the slow cooker, roast pots and cauli cheese

Monday - Extra Easy - Gym in morning
B: Egg & Beans on toast
L: Leftover beef casserole etc
D: Fish, Chips & mushy peas

Tuesday - Green - Gym in Morning, Body Balance in evening

B: Egg & Beans on toast
L: Egg salad wrap & spicy tomato soup
D: Aubergine Parmigana & salad

Wednesday - Extra Easy - Gym in Morning

B: Egg & Beans on toast
L: Egg salad wrap & spicy tomato soup
D: Pork Curry & rice

Thursday - Green - Gym in morning - SW in evening
B: Egg & mushrooms on toast
L: Leftover Parmigana & salad
D: Lazy dinner! Jacket pot, crispy quorn & beans

Friday - Extra Easy - Gym in morning
B: Egg & Beans on toast
L: Leftover Pork curry & rice
D: Sausage, chips & veg

As you can see, and as previously mentioned, we are hoping to make our early morning gym visits a daily (week days) occurrence. We are also trying Body Balance on a Tuesday night instead of Wednesday too.
My snacks will probably mostly be yogurts and fruit. a couple of cereal bars on the green days. and some lovely sorbet with frozen raspberries for my desserts too of course.

Happy eating everyone! :) x

Feeling Good (and a request for advice)

So after my few days of feeling horrid, I am feeling back on track and good again.
Last night we had lovely home made veggy lasagne for dinner (quark thinned with a little skimmed milk instead of white sauce worked wonderfully!) and another early night were just the ticket.

This morning we were up early and at the gym at 6.30 again. Today our friends Leanne and Ed met us there too. I do love working out before work, it just takes a little adjustment to getting up earlier and its such a positive way to start the day.

In fact, we are enjoying it so much that we are going to start going every weekday morning before work. :)

This is where my request for advice comes in... Beautifying make up products that are super speedy to use/get results.

What can you recommend?

One thing I am on the look out for is an eyelash conditioner/conditioning mascara. My eyelashes are rather fine and unfortunately quite short. So without mascara I tend to look like I have no eyelashes! But I am convinced that using mascara every day is no good for my lashes either.

I also have a terrible habit of tugging them and pulling out any lose ones. Terrible I know. I dont want bald eyes!! So in my head conditioning them/looking after them more means less lose lashes, less tugging and more loveliness! Right??

So what products are in your gym/makeup bag?? Share your secrets with me. xx

Zion

Morning!

That *points up* is what my current glasses are called. Just discovered they are also apparently Mens glasses! <- Do it like a brother, do it like a dude :D Really excited to get my new specs on Saturday though.

Anyway, just a quick update for today. I'm currently sporting braids/plaits for the first time in years. quick and easy, and it means I can half dry my hair and just throw the rest up in this style after an early morning gym visit
(Yep, I had to mention it. I made it to the gym for 6.30 again. not feeling as tired this week, but we'll see if I crash and burn later)

Diet wise, the week hasn't been the greatest. I wasn't as organised as I thought, and the first couple of days were kinda a bust. I couldn't get a couple of the ingredients for some of the recipes I had planned so that went to pot too.
I then discovered yesterday that the Lucozade drink I'd been having at the gym was a grand total of 7 syns a bottle!! oops. I'd guessed at a couple of syns, not 7. So that hasn't helped either. Hoping that my work outs, and subsequent days healthy eating have made up for my few days of chaos.

Been quite busy on a few other little things too, none of which are in the 'ready the share' phase yet, but hopefully not too long now and I can let you in on what I have been working on.
I'm going to share some of the inspiration behind the different rooms in our home, and what we are trying to work towards with our little home makeover soon too. I hope you'll find some of it interesting & possibly inspiring too.

xx

Motivation

Yesterday morning Darren and I set our alarms early, got up and ready and were at the gym for a work out at 6.30am when the place opens...

If you have passed some random person who happens to look like me, telling everyone within earshot that they were 'at the gym at 6.30 IN THE MORNING don't you know' I'd estimate that is 99.9% likely to have been me. If I could shout this from the rooftops I probably would. Why? Because I am incredibly sodding proud of myself.

I am not, by anyones stretch of the imagination, a morning person. I dont want to be spoken to, I dont want people getting in my way, I dont want to be up, out of my warm cosy bed, especially when its still dark outside. oh and its raining! (poor Darren. how he puts up with my tantrums is beyond me!)

I also struggle immensely with motivating myself. I know I *should* exercise. I know I *will* enjoy it once I am there. But getting myself there can sometimes be one hell of a chore.
However this week. I have been more motivated than I can ever remember being. Even years ago when I was at my healthiest. When I met Darren I was at the gym almost every evening. When I had to stop working out because of whiplash from a car accident, I fell into bad habits. And shifting those bad habits has been so tricky.
It IS easier to sit at home, curl up on the sofa and snack/order take out. Food definitely became a comforter and a way to relieve boredom.
So within the space of a year or so I put on around 3 stone. (42lbs roughly) and for the past 4 or 5 years I have been trying to shift it. I seem to be in a repeat pattern. Lose weight (normally around 1 stone) get lazy, put weight back on, lose weight, get lazy, put weight back on. and so on and so forth.

I don't want to be that person any more. I want to be healthy. I want to be able to do more things without getting red faced and out of breath. And of course I want to feel better about how I look. Shallow maybe, but who doesnt want to feel good about themselves??

Anyway. Yesterday at Lunch when I was catching up on my daily blog reads I came across Danielle at Sometimes Sweet's post about Motivation. (What perfect timing for me to read that post!!) If your struggling on the motivation front pop over and have a read. (her blog is generally just fab anyway, so pop over and have a read anyway!!)

I am hoping my new found motivation sticks around for some time to come, but when I am struggling I shall try and remind myself of how I feel now (bloody marvellous!) remind myself of Danielle's post, and the reasons why I am doing this (yellow dress, remember the yellow dress!) :) x
